Berend Strik will be `artist in residence´ in WOW for 8 weeks during May and June 2011.

He will set up his studio in WOW and work together with Chinese assistants to prepare his

coming exhibition in Belgium.

Berend's motivation to work in China:

The three N's.

Visiting and working in China has a long tradition wasn't it Marco Polo around 1300 AD who started working on his text about the travels he did in the far east? In 2011 China is one of the more important BRIC countries which attracts many people for all sorts of reasons. The best architects from Europe built in China! It seems to be in a dynamic flow which creates many possibilities. As an artist I work with contrary media: photography and textile. This idea could become extant and excellent. New place, new people, new ideas.

His exhibition in Belgium in Knokke Gallery Stephane Simoens will open on 6th August 2011:  Berend Strik, new work: Made in China!
